I guess it is bad for canoepolo developmnet that teams from hungary, czech and portugal are not taking part in this year europeans. The main reason is money. As canoepolo is still developing sport in these countries and there is not so many players(especially czech and hungary) there is as well not much support from canoe union(they mostly take care about flat water and slalom as it is more popular), sponsors and so on. So most of the expences go from pockets of players.
When I compare europenas in Spain, we were able(czech team) to arrange our own accomodation(thank you Blanca) and food and the entry fee was only 25euros per person. We managed similiar last year with girls in Amsterdam. This year the girls prefer to go to more tournaments than to pay to much for europeans.
I understand that the organizers have to make profit as well, but I would reconsider the posibility for these small canoepolo countries to have the option to pay only the entry fee and let them organize accomodation and food on their own.
I guess it should be the goal of all players to take part in championship even if you get beaten by germans 15:1

It seems a bit silly not to let teams organise their own accomadation when the organisers aren't providing transport from the accomodation they put you in.... I just hope ALL the accomodation is close to the venue....

I would have thought since canoepolo is still a small sport and most teams are self-funded, the aim would have been to cover the costs, advertise the sport in the hosting country and put on a great competition.... not to make much of a profit.... but I might just be idealistic
