I was just wondering if anyone knew when the National womens and mens squads are being selected and just what the selection criteria is?? There seem to be a lot of training camps organised but who is supposed to be attending them??

Not really sure about the women, i would suggest that you contact the coaches or Maree Burnett......executive director.
"Selections for the youth and senior teams travelling to Brisbane will be done at National League finals and at Camp 4. The team named at Camp 4 will have no bearing on the team chosen to go to Worlds in 2004 and we expect those players interested in Worlds should still come to Camp 5 and the following camps. " -taken from the first news letter to the men's squad
As for the selection criteria, this has been clearly out-lined by the senior men's coach: "So that you know what to work on, the players who make the team will be selected on the following criteria in order: (1) teamwork (2) tactical understanding and vision (3) fitness (4) individual skills."
If for some reason you have not recieved any of this information, contact Nick Burnett- national men's coach.

I can give you information I know about personally, but for official clarification I would highly recomend you contact the Executive Director Maree Burnett (maree.nick@paradise.net.nz)
or you could contact the national coaches themselves directly:
Kirsten Demanser (kentkirst@xtra.co.nz) (Sr Wmn)
Nick Burnett (maree.nick@paradise.net.nz) (Sr Mn)
Phil Parry (philparry@xtra.co.nz) (Yth Wmn)
Dave Taylor (I don't know his address)
The information on the Yth and Jnr squads is available from the latest NZCPA Update.
Information on Sr squads was available prior to and at the 2002 IR in ChCh. There was also a mention on the national website for those like myself who did not attend the IR champs (where people nominated themselves for the Sr squads).
There is an electronic mailing list for the NZCPA quarterly newsletter which is packed full of useful information, if you'd like to join the mailing list, get in touch with maree and request an email address to be added. Its a great newsletter!
Apart from that, you should consider checking out the national site maybe at least every fortnight.

- Information on the camps has been available for some time now and its a real shame that you're in the situation where you have to ask your question in the month the camps are being run! (With the excepton of the Sr Wmns camp which has been pushed back to 1&2 Feb)
I hope my reply was helpful, but its only what I know personally and I'd definately recomend you get in touch at least with Maree to confirm the info, get yourself on her mailing list and ask any other quesitons you have.
