Just a quick question,
The official rules state:

3.7. The first year a master competitor can compete is the year that his/her thirty-fifth (35th) birthday falls in. There will be age categories which are in 5 year groups; ie. 35-39, 40-44, 45-49 etc. The last year he/she can compete in a particular age group is the year in which his/her birthday falls in. (ie. First age group the 35th till 39th birthday).

Did they just change the rules for this competition in order to get more participation? Works for me... even though it means I'm officially old.

Hi Keegan,
I am not sure about the other disciplines but polo in the World Masters is 30+ and 45 +. There are no restrictions on someone over 45 playing in 30+ but obviously someone under 45 cannot play in 45+.
Both categories have a choice of social or competitive categories.
There is also a ladies class for each age group although it looks likely there will only be one class held.
To date we have 26 teams actually entered and more in the process of organising their teams.

I have a big doubt:
I am 30 right now, I was born in april 1979. Can I participate on 30+?

Thank you

Yes you can as per the age rules below:

Canoe Polo
Men: 30+, 45+ (Competitive grade only)
Women: 30+, 45+ (Competitive grade only)
Open: 30+, 45+ (Recreational grade only)
Age determined as at 31 December 2009.
The age of the team's youngest competitor will determine the team's age category.
Competitors can compete in one team per grade.

So as long as you turn 30 before December 31 2009 you can compete.

Hi all,

It is now your last chance to register a team or as an individual for the World Masters Games being held in Sydney, 10th-18th October. There are currently over 30 teams entered in Canoe Polo in the 30+, 45+, Ladies and Social classes.

Once registered you can enter the other canoeing disciplines of Slalom, Sprint and Marathon for free. You only need to turn 30 this year to be able to compete.

You are also welsome to participate in the Oceania Polo Championships the week before- we will even help find you a team if you are by yourself.

If you want to register either yourself or a team go to http://registrations.2009worldmasters.com/index.cgi

If you have no team but would still like to compete contact me and I will find you a team. duncan@kayaksplus.com.au

So come down under and enjoy the party.
